 Dong Thap University: 

A home away from home

    Dong Thap University  is a public, multidisciplinary institution that was located at Dong Thap province of Vietnam. It was first established as Dong Thap Pedagogical University on 2003 and falls directly under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, last September 4, 2008 it was renamed as Dong Thap University. 

Duties and powers

-creating strategy and carrying out action plans for the institution's growth.

- Providing training, participating in activities related to science and technology, collaborating with other nations, and ensuring the institution's education quality.

- Assuring the connection between training programs and levels and developing training programs based on clearly defined objectives.

- Designing and implementing the organizational structure of the institution; managing officers and employees, as well as recruiting and hiring them; ensuring that laborers' legal rights and interests are protected; managing students and fully respecting their rights, policies, and regimes; paying close attention to how social policies are implemented for students who are entitled to them, such as those who live in areas with a lot of poverty and ethnic minorities; Guaranteeing an instructive climate for instructive exercises.

- Conducting a self-assessment of the institution's training quality and having it evaluated by authorized accreditation bodies for education quality

- Having land and facilities allotted to them or leased from them by the state; having the right to reduce or eliminate taxes as required by law.

- Organizing, controlling, and making use of resources; constructing, strengthening, and investing educational facilities.

- Collaborating with national and international organizations involved in economic, educational, cultural, physical education, sports, health, and scientific research.

- Sending reports to the Ministry of Education and Training, other relevant ministries and authorized organizations, and the People's Committee of the province in which the institution or any of its training activities are located.

- Taking charge of accountability and exercising autonomy.

- Fulfilling other legal obligations and responsibilities.

Organizational Structure

    11 training faculties, 12 functional divisions, 5 centers, 1 pedagogical practice kindergarten, and 1 inter-level school make up the institution's organizational structure.

Staff

    The university has 548 officials and workers as of February 2023, with 508 officials and 40 workers. There are 17 associate professors, 90 doctors, 333 masters, and 12 bachelors among the teaching staff (preschool teachers).

Training Activity

    On the basis of training quality assurance, the number and structure of training programs constantly evolve. As of now, the college is putting together 1 postgraduate preparation program: Administration of education; 10 programs for graduate training: Instructive Administration, Math Showing Hypothesis and Philosophy, Essential Schooling Review, Vietnamese Phonetics, Hypothetical Science and Actual Science, Vietnamese History; Theories and methods for teaching English as a Second Language, environmental sciences, economic management, theoretical and mathematical physics; 31 undergraduate training programs and one training program for junior colleges.

    At 33 joint training units of provinces in the Mekong Delta and nationwide, the university is training 23 postgraduate students, 808 graduate students, 6,481 full-time undergraduate students, and 8,000 transfer and part-time students as of February 2023.

    Training highly qualified, multi-disciplinary human resources, in which education science and teacher training are the cores; conducting scientific research and providing community services; contributing to the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta and the whole country.
